On 29th March 2017 at Sofia Hotel Balkan the jointly organized by BULPROS and NDB event "API economy – Creating paths to new business opportunities" took place. The opening keynote from Igor Pravica, Country Leader, IBM Bulgaria, on digital transformation pointed the direction of the event followed by very interesting presentations on the topic.
The IBM presentations detailed the innovative opportunities for the private and public organizations - how to grow new revenue streams, capture customers and gain progress towards an extended API ecosystem.
Branko Tadić stressed on how the API Economy can be leveraged and how companies can benefit from it in the best possible way. Further, he presented the IBM offering in regards of PSD2 and how the regulation will transform the world of finance.
Rainer Pirker, Bluemix Sales Leader, Central & Eastern Europe, IBM Cloud showed the other side of PSD2 – the practical approach based on the IBM Bluemix platform and how to monetize the API Economy.
The most important topic related to the already existing banks’ architectures was covered by Marin Yakimov, Integration Architect, BULPROS. Marin presented real world open API exposure projects as references for facilitating companies’ digital transformation for PSD2 readiness. Relevant changes in regards of existing platforms within the enterprises were pointed – how to expose APIs, secure and integrate them, focus being the banking and telecom sectors. As part of the presentation, insight on business models for delivering additional value to companies’ digital channels were presented (web sites, online and mobile banking, customer care and external traders integration). He presented BULPROS core competence use cases on the topic, covering IBM DataPower capabilities for one of the largest worldwide telecoms, and mobile banking integration pilot based on IBM Integration Bus/MQ for one of the biggest Bulgarian Banks.
The introduction of the revised Payment Service Directive 2 (PSD2) from one hand side is disruption of the sector, and from another is a great opportunity for the banks to add value on top to their products by exposing APIs to the fintech companies or third party providers. The products range of IBM, in particular, IBM DataPower, Integration bus and Message Queue, enables an easy and secure way to digitize not only the services required as part of the directive but also the opening of the banking business to a completely new type of partnerships. BULPROS is a company with experience in implementing such projects based on IBM technologies and we are happy to provide solutions and knowledge to help business with the challenges of the new digital era’, said Radoslav Bratanov, BULPROS Head of Sales ECEMEA & UK.
